NZ’s National Government claims it’s bringing foreigners into the country to plug the skills shortages across New Zealand. Many of those it brings in are unskilled. It is saying New Zealanders aren’t skilled enough to work in our own cafes and retail stores. How insulting.
It’s time this Government was more honest with Kiwis about immigration.
In 2015/16 we brought in:
- 683 retail managers
- 600 cafe/restaurant managers
- 213 bakers
- 154 marketing specialists
- 132 hotel service managers
- 121 painters
- 113 office managers
- 98 customer service managers
- 16 truck Drivers
Are all these people’s skills desperately needed in NZ – or are they taking jobs that could be filled by New Zealanders?
As Duncan Garner says, the Government should just tell the truth – it’s addicted to filling the country with as many as people as possible to keep GDP increasing.
BUT – it does not increase GDP PER PERSON, and it reduces the cohesiveness of NZ society. Birds of a feather stick together – there is very little integration – and NZers don’t want this forced societal engineering by National. Read more…
