When the New York Times revealed some of Trump’s tax records, the Clinton campaign thought they had found a way to criticize Trump. However, Donald Trump embraced the New York Times’ comments about him legally avoiding paying taxes. Trump issued a tweet on October 2nd: “I know our complex tax laws better than anyone who has ever run for president and am the only one who can fix them.”
My question for the Times and the Clinton campaign is ‘Since when is legally avoiding paying taxes a bad thing?’
Mr. Trump earned the money, so it is his money to keep. For anyone to purposely pay more money on their taxes than necessary is not logical. There are other ways to contribute to society.
However, that did not stop the Clinton campaign from criticizing Trump over the matter. In a newly realized Clinton campaign ad, the narrator asks: “You work hard. You pay your taxes. So why didn’t Donald Trump pay his?” The ad is misleading as Trump does, in fact, pay all the taxes that the Tax Code requires of him. After all, the New York Times reported Trump was able to avoid paying taxes legally.
Things got more interesting, however, when the blog Zerohedge took a closer look at the publicly released Clinton tax returns. It turns out that the Clintons themselves did the same “trick” that Trump did, on THEIR taxes. As recently as 2015, the Clintons also reported a substantial loss on their tax return. This loss was significant enough that it will allow the Clintons to avoid paying federal income tax for quite some time to come, until the losses are earned back (effectively).
It would seem that Hillary needs to brush up on her Bible readings. “You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:5.
For the Clintons it seems that while all people are equal, the Clintons are perhaps more equal than others. Read more…Photo credit: Breitbart
