Trump is catching up to Clinton in the polls for the US Presidential elections. The last three national polls had the following results:
- Economist/YouGov, 11 July: Clinton +2;
- CBS News/New York Times, 12 July: Tie;
- Rasmussen, 13 July: Trump +7
Trump has now announced his VP running mate, Mike Pence, the Indiana Governor. Mike Pence is a traditional conservative Republican, which should help Trump broaden his support within the party.
Pence has commented already on the failed coup in Turkey overnight, attacking Hillary Clinton and Obama’s weak foreign policy stance (on Fox’s Hannity show):
To think that ISIS grew up, that [it] was conjured up in the vacuum that was created when this administration under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton had precipitously withdrew from Iraq before we should have done.
And the reality is that what’s unfurling in Turkey today is likely one more installment of the anarchy that has taken over countries across the broader Middle East.
